Guidance on accessibility

The Neroche area can offer some great outdoor adventures regardless of your ability.

Staple Hill Loop Trail

This 1000m ‘all ability’ access trail provides an easy to use circular walk to two viewpoints over the vale of Taunton and is suitable for everyone. The trail is 2 metres wide with a compacted granular surface and has maximum gradients of 1:20; meaning it is suitable for all types of wheelchairs.  There are three kissing gates (suitable for all types of wheelchair) along the trail and seating at viewpoints.

The trail is accessed directly from Staple Hill car park, which is situated on the ridge road above Corfe and Staple Fitzpaine.  For more information click HERE

Staple Fitzpaine Herepath

The length of the Trail (13.5 miles), the challenging Blackdown Hills terrain and the varied gradients and path surfaces mean that as a whole it is not suitable for people with limited mobility.

However, tackled in short sections, the trail can be a great adventure! There are no stiles or steps anywhere along the route and many sections are over 2 metres wide with a level compacted surface. These short linear sections have parking available nearby, and provide access opportunities for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.

To tackle longer sections or to get to some of the more remote parts of the Trail you will need a suitable electric cross-country buggy such as a Tramper.

Before embarking on a trip, it is advisable to contact the Neroche Office for up to date trail information, and to follow the advice below:

 You or a companion must be able to walk short distances to open and close gates.
 Ensure the battery of your buggy is fully charged and is capable of completing your trip.
 Do not to go alone.

Contact the Neroche Office for help with planning your visit and for information about path surfaces, conditions, slopes and gradients. For more information click HERE

Public Toilets

Within the Neroche Scheme area, the only public toilets are in Hemyock (opposite post office) but there are many pubs in the area.
